Our Decaffeination Process

Modified on Tue, Nov 28, 2023 at 12:25 PM

Our beans are decaffeinated using the European Process (or Traditional Process), which indirectly uses a chemical solvent. This process requires boiling green coffee for hours to extract the caffeine. The beans are soaked in a solvent, which bonds to the caffeine for easy extraction. This type of chemical used is very volatile, and it is completely destroyed during the roasting process. Ultimately, the coffee will be roasted and contain about 10% of its original caffeine content.
